The BuddyBoss Platform plugin for WordPress does not sanitize group names, so a logged-in subscriber can store a script in a group name. That script runs in the browser of any user who opens a page showing the group.

Sites running the BuddyBoss Platform plugin up to and including 3.6.0 with the "Enable social group creation by all members" setting turned on are exposed, since that setting lets subscriber-level users create groups. Sites that restrict group creation to administrators are not affected by this flaw. The sources do not state a fixed version.

The BuddyBoss Platform plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Stored Cross-Site Scripting via Group Name in all versions up to, and including, 3.6.0 due to insufficient input sanitization and output escaping. This makes it possible for authenticated attackers, with subscriber-level access and above, to inject arbitrary web scripts in pages that will execute whenever a user accesses an injected page. This requires the "Enable social group creation by all members" setting to be enabled, which is the default and permits Subscriber-level users to create groups; exploitation is not possible if group creation is restricted to administrators.
