Self-hosted or managed Openwhyd instances running a version before 1.65.1 that expose the POST /api/user endpoint. Attackers can reach it without an account, so any internet-facing instance is in scope. Instances already on 1.65.1 or later are not affected.
Not affected if version-1.65.1-or-later
Who cares mongodb, openwhyd, self-hosted
1.65.1 or later.Openwhyd before 1.65.1 contains a NoSQL injection vulnerability that allows unauthenticated attackers to manipulate user lookups by passing JSON objects in the id parameter. Attackers can send MongoDB query operators such as $ne or $gt to POST /api/user to select and enumerate other users' public profile records.
