# Openwhyd: NoSQL injection in user lookup exposes other users' profiles

Link for people: https://infrastack.ai/live/CVE-2026-123617 (this .md is for agents)

Openwhyd before 1.65.1 accepts JSON objects in the id parameter of POST /api/user and passes them into MongoDB queries. An unauthenticated attacker can use operators such as $ne or $gt to enumerate other users' public profile records.

_Summary, check and fix written by a model from the sources; labelled as such._

## How to check

- Check the installed Openwhyd version against the fixed version below.
- Look for a POST /api/user route that accepts JSON in the id field.

## Fix

- Openwhyd: upgrade to `1.65.1` or later.

## From the sources

Openwhyd before 1.65.1 contains a NoSQL injection vulnerability that allows unauthenticated attackers to manipulate user lookups by passing JSON objects in the id parameter. Attackers can send MongoDB query operators such as $ne or $gt to POST /api/user to select and enumerate other users' public profile records.
