CVE-2026-123095 · Package
NO FIX YET · SEE WHAT TO DO
The bundled ytdl_hook script in mpv, a media player, accepts playlist URLs containing embedded newlines and bypasses its url_is_safe() check. An attacker who controls a feed or web page can make mpv open file:// or av:// inputs, which can read local files or load shared objects through ladspa for code execution.

Anyone running mpv older than 0.42.0 with the bundled ytdl_hook script, which handles online playlists and streams. Opening a playlist or stream from an untrusted feed or page is the trigger. Users who only play local files or who have removed the hook are less exposed.
Not affected if hook-removed, local-files-only, mpv-0.42.0-or-later
