# Linux kernel: IIO AXI ADC driver used an uninitialized mutex

The adi-axi-adc IIO driver in the Linux kernel serializes register access with a mutex that probe never initializes. The sources do not say what an attacker gains from this.

_Summary, check and fix written by a model from the sources; labelled as such._

## From the sources

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:

iio: adc: adi-axi-adc: Initialize state mutex

The AXI ADC register access paths serialize transactions with st->lock,
but probe does not initialize it. Initialize the mutex before registering
the backend.
