# Apache OFBiz: Label Manager lets a low-privilege user read server files

The ViewFile component of Label Manager in Apache OFBiz 24.09.07 accepts a fileName parameter without restricting the path, so a user with only the LABEL_MANAGER_VIEW permission can read arbitrary properties and XML files. The readable files include the generated JWT signing key, which lets an attacker forge an authenticated administrator session.

_Summary, check and fix written by a model from the sources; labelled as such._

## How to check

- Check the installed OFBiz version; the sources say 24.09.07 is affected, so `24.09.07` is the version to look for.
- Confirm whether the Label Manager component is present and reachable by users who hold LABEL_MANAGER_VIEW.

## Fix

- Apache OFBiz: upgrade to `24.09.08`

## Timeline

- 2026-11-05T14:39:19+00:00 nvd https://nvd.nist.gov/vuln/detail/CVE-2026-97356

## From the sources

External Control of File Name or Path vulnerability in the ViewFile component of Label Manager in Apache OFBiz 24.09.07 on all platforms allows an authenticated user holding only the LABEL_MANAGER_VIEW permission to read arbitrary properties and xml files on the server, including the generated JWT signing key, enabling forgery of an authenticated administrator session, via the fileName parameter of a ViewFile request.
Users are recommended to upgrade to version 24.09.08, which fixes this issue.
