# Microsoft Edge: type confusion lets a remote attacker read information

A type confusion flaw in Microsoft Edge (Chromium-based) lets an unauthorized attacker access resources with an incompatible type. The result is information disclosure over the network.

_Summary, check and fix written by a model from the sources; labelled as such._

## Affected

- vendor:Microsoft Edge (Chromium-based) affected < 155.0.4283.45 fixed 155.0.4283.45

## How to check

Open edge://settings/help (Settings > About Microsoft Edge) and compare the version to 155.0.4283.45; anything lower on the 155 line, or any version before 155, is vulnerable. Enterprises: check the installed msedge.exe version across fleet.

## Fix

Update Microsoft Edge (Chromium-based) to 155.0.4283.45 or later (current Stable 156.0.4314.42 per release notes of Oct 22, 2026).

## Timeline

- 2026-10-29T16:34:55+00:00 analyst — Read MSRC advisory: fixed build 155.0.4283.45 (Edge Stable), not exploited, not publicly disclosed, UI required, memory read with possible sandbox escape. No fix_status none; fix exists. Release-note page shows later builds (155.0.4283.62, 156.0.4314.42) too; its Oct 27 entry says Microsoft is working on a further Chromium fix, so newest build is safest. No X/discussion searched (routine B).

## From the sources

Access of resource using incompatible type ('type confusion') in Microsoft Edge (Chromium-based) allows an unauthorized attacker to disclose information over a network.
