# Apache OFBiz: missing auth default lets remote users skip REST login

Apache OFBiz parses REST API definitions and treats an omitted auth attribute as false, although the schema says the default is true. An unauthenticated remote attacker can call REST operations whose definitions leave auth out.

_Summary, check and fix written by a model from the sources; labelled as such._

## How to check

- Check the installed OFBiz version; `24.09.07` and earlier are affected per the description.
- Search the deployed `.rest.xml` definitions for operations that omit the `auth` attribute.

## Fix

- Apache OFBiz: upgrade to `24.09.08`.

## Timeline

- 2026-11-05T14:39:19+00:00 nvd https://nvd.nist.gov/vuln/detail/CVE-2026-92887

## From the sources

Incorrect default value in the REST API framework's .rest.xml definition parser (ModelApiReader) in Apache OFBiz through 24.09.07 on all platforms allows a remote, unauthenticated attacker to invoke a REST API operation without providing valid credentials via a .rest.xml resource or operation definition that omits the auth attribute, which ModelApiReader incorrectly resolves to false instead of the true default declared by rest-api.xsd.

Users are recommended to upgrade to version 24.09.08, which fixes this issue.
