# Oracle Essbase: Java Based Agent flaw exposes data to low-privilege local users

A flaw in the Java Based Agent component of Oracle Essbase 21.8.3.0.0 lets an attacker who already has logon to the host running Essbase reach data beyond their rights. Successful exploitation can expose or modify Essbase-accessible data and may affect other products, per the vendor's scope-change rating.

_Summary, check and fix written by a model from the sources; labelled as such._

## Affected

- vendor:oracle essbase affected = 21.8.3.0.0 fixed ?

## How to check

- Confirm the installed Essbase version is `21.8.3.0.0` (unknown how to read it from the sources)
- Check whether the Java Based Agent component is running on the host (unknown from the sources)

## Fix

- Apply the Oracle Critical Patch Update fix for Essbase (fixed version: unknown from the sources)

## From the sources

Vulnerability in Oracle Essbase (component: Java Based Agent). The supported version that is affected is 21.8.3.0.0. Difficult to exploit vulnerability allows low privileged attacker with logon to the infrastructure where Oracle Essbase executes to compromise Oracle Essbase. While the vulnerability is in Oracle Essbase, attacks may significantly impact additional products (scope change). Successful attacks of this vulnerability can result in unauthorized access to critical data or complete access to all Oracle Essbase accessible data as well as unauthorized update, insert or delete access to some of Oracle Essbase accessible data. CVSS 3.1 Base Score 6.4 (Confidentiality and Integrity impacts). CVSS Vector: (CVSS:3.1/AV:L/AC:H/PR:L/UI:N/S:C/C:H/I:L/A:N).
