# Oracle Essbase: unauthenticated network attacker can read a subset of data

A flaw in the Java Based Agent component of Oracle Essbase lets an unauthenticated attacker reach the product over TCP. A successful attack gives read access to a subset of data Essbase can reach.

_Summary, check and fix written by a model from the sources; labelled as such._

## Affected

- vendor:oracle essbase affected = 21.8.3.0.0 fixed ?

## How to check

- Confirm whether Oracle Essbase `21.8.3.0.0` is deployed and whether the Java Based Agent is running.
- unknown for other checks; the sources do not list configuration paths or commands.

## Fix

- Move Oracle Essbase off `21.8.3.0.0` to the fixed release named in Oracle's Critical Patch Update advisory; the fixed version is unknown in these sources.

## From the sources

Vulnerability in Oracle Essbase (component: Java Based Agent). The supported version that is affected is 21.8.3.0.0. Easily exploitable vulnerability allows unauthenticated attacker with network access via TCP to compromise Oracle Essbase. Successful attacks of this vulnerability can result in unauthorized read access to a subset of Oracle Essbase accessible data. CVSS 3.1 Base Score 5.3 (Confidentiality impacts). CVSS Vector: (CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:L/I:N/A:N).
