# Oracle Business Intelligence: BI Search flaw lets low-privileged users take over server

Oracle Business Intelligence Enterprise Edition has a flaw in the BI Search component, reachable over HTTP. A low-privileged authenticated attacker can take over the product (CVSS 8.8). Oracle fixed it in the October 2026 Critical Patch Update. No exploitation reported.

_Summary, check and fix written by a model from the sources; labelled as such._

## Affected

- vendor:Oracle Business Intelligence Enterprise Edition affected 8.2.0.0.0, 12.2.1.4.0, 26.01.0.0.0 fixed ?

## How to check

Find your OBIEE version (Help > About, or OPatch lsinventory in the Oracle home). Versions 8.2.0.0.0, 12.2.1.4.0 and 26.01.0.0.0 are affected unless the Oct 2026 CPU patch is applied. Oracle does not say BI Search is optional, so assume it is exposed to any user who can log in over HTTP.

## Fix

Apply the Oracle Analytics patch from the October 2026 CPU via the My Oracle Support patch availability document (patch numbers need a login; not public). Until then, limit HTTP access to OBIEE to trusted users and review low-privilege accounts.

## Timeline

- 2026-10-23T21:57:27+00:00 nvd https://nvd.nist.gov/vuln/detail/CVE-2026-91535
- 2026-10-23T23:51:51+00:00 analyst — Oracle CPU Oct 2026 (20 Oct) covers OBIEE 8.2.0.0.0, 12.2.1.4.0, 26.01.0.0.0; CVSS 8.8 from Oracle CNA. Public pages give no fixed version numbers (patch per version is in My Oracle Support doc, login needed). Nothing says BI Search needs a non-default feature, so removed the unsupported default-config tag. No exploitation or PoC in sources; social not searched. Sibling CVE-2026-91241 same product.
