# Oracle BI Publisher: low-privilege web flaw exposes critical data

Oracle BI Publisher's Web Server component has a flaw that lets a low-privileged user reach data beyond their rights over HTTP. A successful attack can read critical data and all data the BI Publisher instance can access.

_Summary, check and fix written by a model from the sources; labelled as such._

## How to check

- Check the installed BI Publisher version against the affected list: `8.2.0.0.0`, `12.2.1.4.0`, `26.01.0.0.0`
- Confirm whether the instance is reachable from the network over HTTP

## Fix

- Apply the Oracle Critical Patch Update fix for BI Publisher (patch version unknown from sources)
- Restrict network access to the BI Publisher web interface until patched
