# Oracle PeopleSoft PeopleTools: Notification Configuration flaw allows data read and change

A flaw in the Notification Configuration component of Oracle PeopleSoft Enterprise PeopleTools 8.61 through 8.63 lets a low-privileged user reach data over HTTP. A successful attack can read a subset of data and modify or delete some accessible data.

_Summary, check and fix written by a model from the sources; labelled as such._

## How to check

- Confirm the PeopleTools release in use: `8.61`, `8.62` or `8.63` are affected per the description
- Check whether the Notification Configuration component is reachable over HTTP from untrusted networks
- Review Oracle's Critical Patch Update advisory for the patched PeopleTools release

## Fix

- Apply the Oracle Critical Patch Update for PeopleSoft PeopleTools that covers `8.61` through `8.63`
- Restrict network access to the PeopleSoft web tier until patched
