# WordPress Everest Forms plugin: unauthenticated users can extract stored secrets

The Everest Forms WordPress form builder plugin, up to and including version 3.6.2, exposes arbitrary post meta values such as license keys, API tokens, SMTP credentials and Stripe or AWS secrets. An unauthenticated attacker can obtain a nonce and pull these values through form notification emails or stored form entries.

_Summary, check and fix written by a model from the sources; labelled as such._

## How to check

- Check the installed Everest Forms plugin version in the WordPress admin under Plugins; affected if it is `3.6.2` or older
- Confirm whether the site stores secrets in post meta, such as payment or SMTP keys, that the plugin could reach

## Fix

- Everest Forms: move to a version later than `3.6.2` (the sources do not name the fixed version)

## Timeline

## From the sources

The Everest Forms – Contact Form, Payment Form, Quiz, Survey & Custom Form Builder with AI plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Sensitive Information Exposure in all versions up to, and including, 3.6.2 via the process. This makes it possible for unauthenticated attackers to extract arbitrary WordPress post meta values — including license keys, API tokens, SMTP credentials, and Stripe or AWS secrets stored on any post type — via form submission notification emails or stored entries. The submission nonce is publicly rendered in every embedded form and can additionally be minted anonymously via the nopriv everest_forms_get_form_update_nonce action, meaning no account or prior authentication of any kind is required to complete the exploit.
