# vTables WordPress plugin: unauthenticated SQL injection lets attackers read database

The vTables WordPress plugin before version 0.3 passes a request parameter into a SQL statement without sanitising or escaping it. An unauthenticated attacker can inject SQL and extract data from the site's database.

_Summary, check and fix written by a model from the sources; labelled as such._

## How to check

- Check whether the vTables plugin is installed on the WordPress site (Plugins screen in wp-admin, or `wp plugin list` with WP-CLI).
- Check the installed vTables version; versions below `0.3` are in the affected range.

## Fix

- vTables: move to `0.3` or later (per the NVD description, the fix is in versions 0.3 and later).

## Timeline

- 2026-10-29T06:53:14+00:00 nvd https://nvd.nist.gov/vuln/detail/CVE-2026-89216

## From the sources

The vTables WordPress plugin before 0.3 does not properly sanitise and escape a parameter before using it in a SQL statement, which allows unauthenticated attackers to perform SQL injection attacks and extract data from the database.
