# Front End Users WordPress plugin: registration lets visitors set their own membership level

The Front End Users WordPress plugin through 3.2.35 does not restrict which account attributes a visitor can set on the front-end registration form. An unauthenticated visitor can give themselves an arbitrary membership level and mark their account as approved, confirmed and paid, bypassing content restrictions and registration gating.

_Summary, check and fix written by a model from the sources; labelled as such._

## How to check

- Check the installed version of the Front End Users plugin in the WordPress admin plugins list; versions through `3.2.35` are affected.
- Review whether the site uses the plugin's front-end registration forms to gate paid or restricted content.
- unknown for any fixed version or vendor-supplied test.

## Fix

- Update the Front End Users plugin to a version later than `3.2.35`; the sources do not name the fixed release, so check the plugin's changelog.
- Until patched, disable open front-end registration or restrict membership and approval fields to administrators.
- Audit existing accounts for unexpected membership levels or approved/paid flags.
