# Oracle Outside In: unauthenticated HTTP request crashes the library, denial of service

Oracle Outside In Technology, a document-parsing library in Oracle Fusion Middleware, can be made to hang or repeatedly crash by a crafted input. An unauthenticated attacker with network access over HTTP can cause a complete denial of service, but the advisory describes no code execution or data disclosure.

_Summary, check and fix written by a model from the sources; labelled as such._

## How to check

- Check whether Oracle Outside In Technology is in use: look for Outside In libraries or Oracle Fusion Middleware components in your deployment, which the sources do not list in detail
- Confirm the affected supported version: `8.5.8` per the sources

## Fix

- Apply the Oracle Critical Patch Update fix for Outside In Technology; the exact patched version is unknown from the sources
- Check the NVD entry at https://nvd.nist.gov/vuln/detail/CVE-2026-87395 for the vendor advisory link

## Timeline

## From the sources

Vulnerability in the Oracle Outside In Technology product of Oracle Fusion Middleware (component: Outside In Core). The supported version that is affected is 8.5.8. Easily exploitable vulnerability allows unauthenticated attacker with network access via HTTP to compromise Oracle Outside In Technology. Successful attacks of this vulnerability can result in unauthorized ability to cause a hang or frequently repeatable crash (complete DOS) of Oracle Outside In Technology. CVSS 3.1 Base Score 7.5 (Availability impacts). CVSS Vector: (CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H).
