# Apple: crafted video file crashes apps on iOS, iPadOS and macOS

Processing a maliciously crafted video file can make an app terminate unexpectedly on Apple platforms. The sources describe a crash, not code execution or data access.

_Summary, check and fix written by a model from the sources; labelled as such._

## How to check

- Check the OS version on iPhone or iPad under Settings > General > About, and on Mac under Apple menu > About This Mac; compare against the fixed versions listed in the fix.
- unknown for any other check, since the sources do not say which apps or media paths are affected.

## Fix

- Update iOS and iPadOS to `26.7.2` or `27.2`.
- Update macOS Tahoe to `26.7.2`, macOS Sequoia to `15.8.2`, or macOS Golden Gate to `27.2`.
- Update tvOS, visionOS and watchOS to `27.2`.
