# Safari and iOS: crafted web content crashes the browser process

An out-of-bounds read in Safari and related Apple OS components can be triggered by maliciously crafted web content. The sources say it causes an unexpected process crash, with no reported code execution.

_Summary, check and fix written by a model from the sources; labelled as such._

## How to check

- Check the installed Safari version in Safari > About Safari, or the iOS/iPadOS version in Settings > General > About, and compare it to the fixed versions.
- Check the macOS version in Apple menu > About This Mac.

## Fix

- Update Safari to `27.2` or later, or iOS and iPadOS to `26.7.2` or `27.2`, and macOS to `27.2` (Golden Gate).

## Timeline

## From the sources

An out-of-bounds read was addressed with improved bounds checking. This issue is fixed in Safari 27.2, iOS 26.7.2 and iPadOS 26.7.2, iOS 27.2 and iPadOS 27.2, macOS Golden Gate 27.2. Processing maliciously crafted web content may lead to an unexpected process crash.
