# Apple macOS: app can read sensitive network connection information

Apple macOS has an information disclosure flaw in its state management that lets an app access sensitive network connection details. An attacker who controls a local app gets network connection information it should not see.

_Summary, check and fix written by a model from the sources; labelled as such._

## How to check

- Run `sw_vers -productVersion` on each Mac and compare against the fixed releases listed in the fix section.

## Fix

- Update macOS to `27` (Golden Gate), `15.8` (Sequoia), or `26.7` (Tahoe), or later.

## Timeline

- 2026-10-23T21:57:19+00:00 nvd https://nvd.nist.gov/vuln/detail/CVE-2026-86914

## From the sources

An information disclosure issue was addressed with improved state management. This issue is fixed in macOS Golden Gate 27, macOS Sequoia 15.8, macOS Tahoe 26.7. An app may be able to access sensitive network connection information.
