# WP Event Manager WordPress plugin lets anyone overwrite unpublished posts

The WP Event Manager plugin for WordPress does not check who owns or what type a post identifier is in its front-end event submission flow. An unauthenticated attacker can read and overwrite unpublished posts and pages, and turn them into events.

_Summary, check and fix written by a model from the sources; labelled as such._

## How to check

- Check the installed version of the WP Event Manager plugin in the WordPress admin under Plugins; versions below `3.4.2` are in the affected range.
- Confirm whether the front-end event submission form is enabled on the site.

## Fix

- WP Event Manager: `3.4.2` (fixed version per the advisory description)

## Timeline

- 2026-11-05T06:31:52+00:00 nvd https://nvd.nist.gov/vuln/detail/CVE-2026-86442

## From the sources

The WP Event Manager WordPress plugin before 3.4.2 does not verify the ownership or the post type of a user supplied post identifier in its front-end event submission flow, allowing unauthenticated attackers to read and overwrite the content of arbitrary unpublished posts and pages, and to convert them into events.
