# Apple iOS and macOS: out-of-bounds write can crash the system

An out-of-bounds write flaw in Apple's operating systems lets an app cause an unexpected system termination. The fix is improved bounds checking in iOS 27, iPadOS 27, macOS Golden Gate 27, macOS Sequoia 15.8.2, macOS Tahoe 26.7.2 and visionOS 27.

## How to check

- Check the installed OS version under Settings > General > About (iOS, iPadOS, visionOS) or `sw_vers` on macOS.
- Compare it with the fixed versions: macOS Sequoia 15.8.2, macOS Tahoe 26.7.2, or iOS/iPadOS/visionOS 27.

## Fix

- Update iOS and iPadOS to 27 or later.
