# Apple macOS: out-of-bounds write lets a remote attacker corrupt heap memory

An out-of-bounds write in an unspecified macOS component can crash an app or corrupt heap memory. Apple says a remote attacker may be able to trigger it, and the description does not say what code path is involved.

_Summary, check and fix written by a model from the sources; labelled as such._

## How to check

- Run `sw_vers -productVersion` on each Mac and compare against the fixed versions.
- Check the macOS build against the fixed releases: macOS Golden Gate 27.2, macOS Sequoia 15.8.2, macOS Tahoe 26.7.2.

## Fix

- Update macOS to `27.2` (Golden Gate), `15.8.2` (Sequoia) or `26.7.2` (Tahoe), whichever matches the installed major release.

## From the sources

An out-of-bounds write issue was addressed with improved bounds checking. This issue is fixed in macOS Golden Gate 27.2, macOS Sequoia 15.8.2, macOS Tahoe 26.7.2. A remote attacker may be able to cause unexpected app termination or heap corruption.
