# Apple iOS and iPadOS: locked device lets attacker bypass Digital ID authentication

Apple's iOS 27 and iPadOS 27 fix a state management flaw that lets someone with physical access to a locked device bypass Digital ID authentication while iPhone Mirroring is active. The attacker gets to act as the authenticated owner of the Digital ID without knowing the credentials.

_Summary, check and fix written by a model from the sources; labelled as such._

## How to check

- Check the device's iOS or iPadOS version in Settings > General > About; versions earlier than `27` are in scope.
- Check whether iPhone Mirroring is in use on the device.

## Fix

- Update iOS to `27` and iPadOS to `27` or later.

## From the sources
