# Oracle Identity Manager: low-privilege network attacker can take over server

Oracle Identity Manager's OIM Legacy UI component has a flaw reachable over HTTPS by any low-privileged account. A successful attacker gets full takeover of the Identity Manager server, with high confidentiality, integrity and availability impact.

_Summary, check and fix written by a model from the sources; labelled as such._

## Affected

- vendor:Oracle Identity Manager affected 12.2.1.4.0, 14.1.2.1.0 fixed October 2026 CPU patch (number on MOS)

## How to check

Find the installed OIM version (12.2.1.4.0 and 14.1.2.1.0 are affected; run OPatch lsinventory in the OIM Oracle home to see applied patches). Check whether the OIM Legacy UI is deployed and reachable over HTTPS to low-privileged accounts. Look for the October 2026 CPU patch in the inventory.

## Fix

Apply the Oracle October 2026 Critical Patch Update for Oracle Identity Manager (Fusion Middleware patch availability document on My Oracle Support). The exact patch number is not public; the page does not give one. Until patched, restrict network access to OIM, especially the legacy UI, and review low-privileged accounts.

## Timeline

- 2026-10-23T21:57:25+00:00 nvd https://nvd.nist.gov/vuln/detail/CVE-2026-83402
- 2026-10-24T00:02:48+00:00 analyst — Oracle CPU October 2026 lists Oracle Identity Manager 12.2.1.4.0 and 14.1.2.1.0 (Fusion Middleware patch doc, on MOS, login-gated); CVE.org gives the OIM Legacy UI component, CVSS 8.8 AV:N/PR:L. No exploitation or PoC seen (not in KEV, VulDB says no exploit). Patch numbers and any way to disable the legacy UI not confirmed; I did not search social posts.

## From the sources

Vulnerability in the Oracle Identity Manager product of Oracle Fusion Middleware (component: OIM Legacy UI). Supported versions that are affected are 12.2.1.4.0 and 14.1.2.1.0. Easily exploitable vulnerability allows low privileged attacker with network access via HTTPS to compromise Oracle Identity Manager. Successful attacks of this vulnerability can result in takeover of Oracle Identity Manager. CVSS 3.1 Base Score 8.8 (Confidentiality, Integrity and Availability impacts). CVSS Vector: (CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H).
