# HiRDB: heap buffer overflow in server lets attackers run code

HiRDB is a database server from Hitachi. A heap-based buffer overflow in the server lets an attacker overwrite memory, which can lead to code execution on the database host.

_Summary, check and fix written by a model from the sources; labelled as such._

## How to check

- Check the installed HiRDB Server version against the affected ranges: Version 10 before `10-12-01`, and Version 9 from `09-00` through `09-66-22` (including the 9(32) and Additional Function variants).

## Fix

- Upgrade HiRDB Server to `10-12-01` or later for Version 10, or move to a fixed release of the 9.x line as published by the vendor (fixed version for 9.x not stated in the sources).
