# HPE AOS-10 auth bypass lets adjacent attacker run OS commands as root

HPE Aruba AOS-10 network gear has an authentication bypass in an affected interface. An unauthenticated attacker on an adjacent network can get past login and run arbitrary commands as a privileged user on the underlying OS.

_Summary, check and fix written by a model from the sources; labelled as such._

## Affected

- vendor:HPE Networking AOS-10 affected <= 10.8.1.1 (10.8.x), <= 10.7.2.6 (10.7.x), <= 10.4.1.13 (10.4.x) fixed 10.8.1.2, 10.7.2.7, 10.4.1.14

## How to check

Check the running AOS-10 version on each controller or gateway (for example with the web UI or CLI show version) and compare it with the affected ranges: 10.8.x up to 10.8.1.1, 10.7.x up to 10.7.2.6, 10.4.x up to 10.4.1.13.

## Fix

Upgrade to 10.8.1.2, 10.7.2.7, or 10.4.1.14, matching your release branch.
Until patched, restrict access to the AOS-10 management interface to trusted management networks only.

## From the sources

Authentication bypass vulnerabilities in the affected interface of AOS-10 could allow an unauthenticated adjacent attacker to circumvent existing authentication controls. Successful exploitation could allow an attacker to execute arbitrary commands as a privileged user on the underlying operating system.
