# U-speed WIFI4 N300 T1 Pro router: exposed UART gives unauthenticated root shell

The U-speed WIFI4 N300 router (model T1 Pro, v1.0.0) exposes a UART debug interface with no authentication or access control. Anyone who connects to that interface gets a root shell on the device.

_Summary, check and fix written by a model from the sources; labelled as such._

## Affected

- hardware:U-speed WIFI4 N300 T1 Pro affected v1.0.0 fixed ?

## How to check

- Model T1 Pro (U-speed WIFI4 N300), firmware v1.0.0 (how to read the version is not stated in the sources).
- Open the case and look for UART test pads; the researcher connected at 38400 baud and got a root shell with no login. Anyone with physical access can do this.

## Timeline

- 2026-10-29T14:25:23+00:00 nvd https://nvd.nist.gov/vuln/detail/CVE-2026-79589
- 2026-10-29T14:27:49+00:00 analyst — Only the researcher's GitHub disclosure (milkinit) found; no vendor advisory, no firmware fix located, NVD page returned nothing via web-cli. Researcher remediation: disable UART / add auth. Fix status left unknown (no vendor page saying none). Nothing verified. Sibling CVE-2026-79588 (cleartext HTTP creds) same device.

## From the sources

The WIFI4 N300 router (Model: T1 Pro) v1.0.0 by U-speed contains an insecure access control flaw that allows an attacker to gain unauthenticated root shell. The vulnerability is caused by the exposure of the UART debugging interface having a lack of authentication, authorization and access control functionality. Once the interface is soldered and connected to the attacker, they gain root privilege to the system.
