# Adobe Commerce is affected by an Incorrect Authorization vulnerability that could result in privilege escalation

Critical unauthenticated incorrect-authorization flaw (CWE-863, CVSS 9.1) in Adobe Commerce, Commerce B2B and Magento Open Source. Sansec's patch analysis says an attacker can switch a customer session to another customer's account, with no login or user interaction. CISA lists it as exploited. Adobe patched it on Aug 11 2026 in APSB26-92.

_Summary, check and fix written by a model from the sources; labelled as such._

## How to check

Check the installed version with 'bin/magento --version' or composer.lock (magento/product-community-edition or magento/product-enterprise-edition). You are exposed if you run any 2026-jul or earlier release of 2.4.4-2.4.9 (Commerce), 2.4.6-2.4.9 (Open Source), or B2B 1.3.3-1.5.3 and have not applied the 2026-aug isolated patch. Also review customer session and login logs for one session changing between customer IDs. No IOCs are published.

## Fix

Update to the 2026-aug release for your line: Commerce 2.4.4 to 2.4.9, Open Source 2.4.6 to 2.4.9, B2B 1.3.3 to 1.5.3 (all '-2026-aug'). Adobe ships the fix as an isolated patch. Per Sansec, first move to the latest -p release for your branch, then apply the matching patch. Sansec Shield is reported to block exploitation as a stopgap. Follow CISA forensics triage guidance.

## From the sources

Adobe Commerce and Magento contains an incorrect authorization vulnerability that could allow an attacker to leverage this vulnerability to gain elevated access to sensitive resources without any user interaction.

CISA required action: Apply mitigations in accordance with vendor instructions, ensuring compliance with CISA’s BOD 26-04 Prioritizing Security Updates Based on Risk (see URL in Notes) guidance and CISA’s “Forensics Triage Requirements” (see URL in Notes). Follow applicable BOD 26-04 guidance for cloud services or discontinue use of the product if mitigations are unavailable. Stakeholders are responsible for evaluating each asset's internet exposure and ensuring adherence to BOD 26-04 patching guidelines.
