# ip_stack: out-of-bounds read lets a rogue base station crash a phone

An input validation flaw in the ip_stack networking code causes an out-of-bounds read. A UE that connects to an attacker-controlled rogue base station can be knocked offline, a remote denial of service.

_Summary, check and fix written by a model from the sources; labelled as such._

## Timeline

- 2026-11-02T03:31:26+00:00 nvd https://nvd.nist.gov/vuln/detail/CVE-2026-68590

## From the sources

In ip_stack, there is a possible out of bounds read due to improper input validation. This could lead to remote denial of service, if a UE has connected to a rogue base station controlled by the attacker, with no additional execution privileges needed. User interaction is not needed for exploitation. Patch ID: MOLY01387180; Issue ID: MSV-5152.
