# Apache OFBiz: temporary-file handling lets unauthenticated attackers load malicious screens

Apache OFBiz can be made to load a Screen definition the attacker controls, by abusing temporary-file handling, an open file descriptor and a crafted file: URI. The sources do not state the full outcome, but loading an attacker-controlled screen definition can lead to code execution on the server.

_Summary, check and fix written by a model from the sources; labelled as such._

## How to check

- Check the Apache OFBiz version in use; versions before `24.09.08` are affected.

## Fix

- Apache OFBiz: upgrade to `24.09.08`

## Timeline

- 2026-11-05T15:39:21+00:00 nvd https://nvd.nist.gov/vuln/detail/CVE-2026-68524

## From the sources

An unauthenticated attacker can exploit temporary-file handling, access an open file descriptor, and inject a "file:" URI to cause OFBiz to load an attacker-controlled Screen definition.

This issue affects Apache OFBiz: before 24.09.08.

Users are recommended to upgrade to version 24.09.08, which fixes the issue.
