# Apple iOS and iPadOS: out-of-bounds write can crash apps

Apple reports an out-of-bounds write in iOS, iPadOS, visionOS and watchOS that can corrupt memory and terminate an app unexpectedly. The sources describe the impact as memory corruption and app termination, with no mention of code execution.

_Summary, check and fix written by a model from the sources; labelled as such._

## How to check

- Check the device OS version under Settings > General > About (unknown if the sources give a specific command or file).

## Fix

- Update iOS and iPadOS to `26.7.2` or `27.2`.
- Update visionOS and watchOS to `27.2`.

## Timeline

- 2026-10-26T21:20:32+00:00 nvd https://nvd.nist.gov/vuln/detail/CVE-2026-65385

## From the sources

An out-of-bounds write issue was addressed with improved bounds checking. This issue is fixed in iOS 26.7.2 and iPadOS 26.7.2, iOS 27.2 and iPadOS 27.2, visionOS 27.2, watchOS 27.2. A buffer overflow may result in memory corruption and unexpected app termination.
