# Apple iOS and macOS: apps can escape their sandbox via improved checks

Apple's advisory says a malicious or compromised app may be able to break out of its sandbox on iOS, iPadOS and macOS. The sources give no further technical detail, and an escape would let an app reach data or resources outside its containment.

_Summary, check and fix written by a model from the sources; labelled as such._

## How to check

- Run `sw_vers` on each Apple device and compare ProductVersion with the fixed builds below
- Check that iOS and iPadOS are at `26.7.2` or later, or `27` or later
- Check that macOS is at `15.8.2` (Sequoia) or `26.7.2` (Tahoe), or a Golden Gate 27 build

## Fix

- Update iOS and iPadOS to `26.7.2` or later, or to iOS 27 and iPadOS 27
- Update macOS Sequoia to `15.8.2` and macOS Tahoe to `26.7.2`
- Update to macOS Golden Gate 27 where it is in use
