# Apple: use-after-free in memory handling lets an app corrupt kernel memory

A use-after-free bug in Apple's operating systems lets a local app crash the system or corrupt kernel memory. The sources do not say what an attacker can do beyond that.

_Summary, check and fix written by a model from the sources; labelled as such._

## How to check

- Check the OS version under Settings > General > About (iOS, iPadOS, visionOS, watchOS, tvOS) or `sw_vers -productVersion` on macOS
- Compare against the fixed versions: iOS 26.7.2, iPadOS 26.7.2, iOS 27.2, iPadOS 27.2, macOS Tahoe 26.7.2, macOS Sequoia 15.8.2, macOS Golden Gate 27.2, tvOS 27.2, visionOS 27.2, watchOS 27.2

## Fix

- Update iOS and iPadOS to `26.7.2` or `27.2`
- Update macOS Tahoe to `26.7.2`, macOS Sequoia to `15.8.2`, or macOS Golden Gate to `27.2`
- Update tvOS, visionOS and watchOS to `27.2`
