# Apache IoTDB: missing authentication lets unauthenticated users reach a critical function

Apache IoTDB versions 2.0.0 through 2.0.10 expose a critical function without requiring authentication. An attacker who can reach the server over the network can invoke that function without credentials.

_Summary, check and fix written by a model from the sources; labelled as such._

## How to check

- Check the installed IoTDB version with `sbin/start-confignode.sh -v` or the version in the server log header
- Confirm the version is in the affected range `2.0.0` to `2.0.10`
- unknown which specific function is exposed; the sources do not say

## Fix

- Upgrade Apache IoTDB to `2.0.11`
- Restrict network access to the IoTDB ports until the upgrade is applied

## From the sources

Missing authentication for critical function vulnerability in Apache IoTDB.

This issue affects Apache IoTDB: from 2.0.0 before 2.0.11.

Users are recommended to upgrade to version 2.0.11, which fixes the issue.
