# Android: misleading widget consent screen allows local privilege escalation

AllowBindAppWidgetActivity.java, an Android system component that handles app widget bind consent, can be misread by a user because its reject and consent UI is misleading or insufficient. A local app could use this to escalate privileges, and a user must tap through the prompt.

_Summary, check and fix written by a model from the sources; labelled as such._

## Timeline

- 2026-11-02T20:35:29+00:00 nvd https://nvd.nist.gov/vuln/detail/CVE-2026-55263

## From the sources

In multiple functions of AllowBindAppWidgetActivity.java, there is a possible misunderstanding of reject/consent actions due to misleading or insufficient UI. This could lead to local escalation of privilege with no additional execution privileges needed. User interaction is needed for exploitation.
