# Xibo: missing authorization lets users alter display schedule criteria

Xibo is an open source digital signage platform. Before 4.4.3, an authenticated user can send criteria updates to any display through XMR, changing which content plays, for example swapping in weather-based content.

_Summary, check and fix written by a model from the sources; labelled as such._

## How to check

- Check the installed Xibo CMS version in the admin UI or the release in use; it is affected if below `4.4.3`.
- Check whether `Schedule Criteria` is in use on the CMS (unknown how to query this from the sources).

## Fix

- Upgrade Xibo CMS to `4.4.3` or later.

## Timeline

## From the sources

Xibo is an open source digital signage platform with a web content management system and Windows display player software. Prior to 4.4.3, missing authorization on `POST /displaygroup/criteria/{displayGroupId}` allows an authenticated user to send criteria updates to any display via `XMR`. These criteria determine schedule changes and can alter playback, for example by causing content scheduled for rainy weather to play when it is not raining. Exploitation requires `Schedule Criteria` to be in use on the CMS. This issue is fixed in version 4.4.3.
