# Xibo: any logged-in user can read other users' layout status

Xibo, an open source digital signage platform, is missing access-control checks on the layout status endpoint before version 4.4.3. An authenticated user with any role can read the status and metadata of layouts they have no view rights to.

_Summary, check and fix written by a model from the sources; labelled as such._

## How to check

- Check the installed Xibo version and confirm whether it is below `4.4.3`.
- unknown

## Fix

- Upgrade Xibo to `4.4.3` or later.

## Timeline

- 2026-10-28T16:33:49+00:00 nvd https://nvd.nist.gov/vuln/detail/CVE-2026-50542

## From the sources

Xibo is an open source digital signage platform with a web content management system and Windows display player software. Prior to 4.4.3, missing access-control checks on `GET /layout/status/{id}` allow an authenticated user with any privileges to view the `status and metadata` of any layout, including layouts for which the user does not have view rights. This issue is fixed in version 4.4.3.
