# VertiGIS GIS Portal: stored script in order reference runs for admins

An authenticated user can enter JavaScript into a business reference field in the ASMobile web interface, and that script is stored with the order. When a highly privileged user opens the order in the VertiGIS WebOrderSystem OrderAdministration portal, the script runs in their session.

_Summary, check and fix written by a model from the sources; labelled as such._

## How to check

- Check whether the VertiGIS WebOrderSystem OrderAdministration (AuftragsManager) portal is deployed in your environment, and note the version, which the sources say is 7.0.8.6 at testing time.
- Search existing order business reference fields for script content such as `<script` or event handler attributes.

## Fix

- Update VertiGIS WebOrderSystem to a version the vendor names as fixed; the sources do not say which version that is, so contact VertiGIS.
- Until then, restrict who can place orders and who can open orders in OrderAdministration.

## From the sources

The "ASMobile" web interface, which is part of the VertiGIS software package "GIS Portal", allows authenticated users to define a business reference. JavaScript code can be inserted into this field. On its own this only affects the user who entered it (self-XSS). However, the business reference is included in the order details when the user places an order through the web interface. The order is later listed in the OrderAdministration portal (AuftragsManager) of VertiGIS WebOrderSystem, where the stored code is executed as soon as a highly privileged user opens the order. Version 7.0.8.6 of WebOrderSystem, the latest available at the time of testing, is affected. The vendor did not provide information about further affected versions.
