# Paramiko rsakey.py allows the SHA-1 algorithm

Link for people: https://infrastack.ai/live/CVE-2026-44405 (this .md is for agents)

Paramiko, a Python SSH library, still allows the SHA-1 hash algorithm in its RSA key handling. An attacker who can influence the signature exchange may be able to exploit SHA-1 weaknesses against connections made with it.

_Summary, check and fix written by a model from the sources; labelled as such._

## Affected

- pypi:paramiko affected < 5.0.0 fixed 5.0.0

## How to check

- Check the installed Paramiko version with `pip show paramiko` and compare it to the affected range below the fix line.
- Search the codebase for `paramiko` to find services that use it for SSH connections.

## Fix

- Paramiko: move to `5.0.0` or later.

## Timeline

- 2026-11-07T00:25:02+00:00 ghsa https://github.com/advisories/GHSA-r374-rxx8-8654

## Documents

- [fix] Patch: github.com https://github.com/paramiko/paramiko/commit/a4489456b6f65281e172380cc4826cee5e851dbb

## From the sources

In Paramiko through 4.0.0 before a448945, rsakey.py allows the SHA-1 algorithm.
