# FUXA: unauthenticated HTTP request to /nodered runs arbitrary code

FUXA is a web-based SCADA and HMI visualization platform. A specially crafted unauthenticated HTTP request to its /nodered functionality bypasses authorization and can lead to arbitrary code execution on the server.

_Summary, check and fix written by a model from the sources; labelled as such._

## Affected

- npm:FUXA affected <= 1.3.2 fixed 1.3.3

## How to check

Run FUXA 1.3.2 or earlier (Talos tested 1.3.2-2809)? Check settings: exposed only if Node-RED is enabled (nodeRedEnabled=true), secureEnabled=true and nodeRedAuthMode="secure". Test: POST /api/heartbeat without credentials; if it returns a guest token and GET /nodered/ with that token in x-access-token returns 200 instead of 401, the instance is vulnerable. Fixed in 1.3.3.

## Fix

Upgrade FUXA to 1.3.3 or later. The /nodered middleware then rejects guest and refresh JWTs and requires a non-guest authenticated user or a valid API key.

- 2026-10-29T04:44:51+00:00 analyst — Talos TALOS-2026-2419 (CVE-2026-42922) is the same guest-JWT /nodered bypass as GHSA-5h5x-9h7x-23f4 / CVE-2026-67443; fixed in 1.3.3 per vendor notes and PR 2393. Possible duplicate of CVE-2026-67443; code decides merge. No exploitation or PoC seen. Sibling Talos CVEs: CVE-2026-40063 (script name leak), CVE-2026-42949 (/api/runscript, fix pending next hotfix). Did not search social posts. Mitigation: enable Node-RED only on trusted networks.

## From the sources

A authorization bypass vulnerability exists in the /nodered functionality of FUXA (version(s): 1.3.2-2809). A specially crafted HTTP request can lead to a arbitrary code execution. An attacker can make an unauthenticated HTTP request to trigger this vulnerability.
