# TOTOLINK X2000R router: stack overflow in device-delete handler allows code execution

Stack buffer overflow in the TOTOLINK X2000R web interface. The formMapDelDevice handler passes the macstr POST parameter to /bin/map_del_device, which strcpy's it onto the stack. An attacker with admin login can run code on the router. Talos has a crash trace showing PC control, but no public exploit. No vendor fix has been published.

_Summary, check and fix written by a model from the sources; labelled as such._

## Affected

- firmware:TOTOLINK X2000R affected TOTOLINK-X2000R-Gh-V1.0.0-B20250421.1327 fixed ?

## How to check

Log in to the router admin page and read the firmware version (Status/System). TOTOLINK-X2000R-Gh-V1.0.0-B20250421.1327 is confirmed vulnerable; other builds are untested, so assume affected. Check whether the admin interface is reachable from WAN (remote management setting, or scan your public IP on ports 80/8080).

## Fix

No fixed firmware published as of 2026-10-23 (unknown). Check totolink.net X2000R download page for newer firmware. Until then: turn off WAN/remote administration, restrict admin access to LAN, change the admin password to a strong unique one, and replace the router if exposed and unpatched.

- 2026-10-23T23:14:43+00:00 analyst — Read Talos TALOS-2026-2390 (primary): only B20250421.1327 confirmed vulnerable; vendor acknowledged 2026-06-25 but no fixed firmware or patch date in sources; no PoC or exploitation seen (not in KEV). Did not search social.

## From the sources

A stack-based buffer overflow vulnerability exists in the boa formMapDelDevice macstr functionality of X2000R (version(s): TOTOLINK-X2000R-Gh-V1.0.0-B20250421.1327). A specially crafted HTTP request can lead to arbitrary code execution. An attacker can make an authenticated HTTP request to trigger this vulnerability.
