# Totolink X2000R router: crafted request runs OS commands as attacker

The boa web server's formWsc handler on Totolink X2000R routers passes the targetAPSsid parameter to a system shell without sanitising it. An attacker who holds a valid login can send a crafted HTTP request and run arbitrary commands on the router.

_Summary, check and fix written by a model from the sources; labelled as such._

## Affected

- firmware:Totolink X2000R firmware affected TOTOLINK-X2000R-Gh-V1.0.0-B20250421.1327 fixed ?

## How to check

In the router web UI (status/system page) read the firmware version; affected if it is TOTOLINK-X2000R-Gh-V1.0.0-B20250421.1327. Check whether the admin web server (boa, ports 80/8080) answers from the WAN side.

## Fix

No fixed firmware published as of 2026-10-23 (unknown); check totolink.net downloads for X2000R. Mitigate: turn off remote/WAN management, limit admin UI to trusted LAN, replace the default admin password (exploit needs a valid login).

- 2026-10-23T23:14:42+00:00 analyst — CVE.org record, VulDB and Rapid7 read: only build B20250421.1327 listed; no vendor advisory, no fixed firmware, no public PoC (VulDB: none), not in KEV, 0 X posts. Sibling X2000R formWsc CVEs exist (CVE-2026-35499 peerRptPin; older CVE-2025-5504 has a third-party PoC for a different parameter).

## Documents

- [advisory] CVE Record: CVE-2026-40627 https://www.cve.org/CVERecord?id=CVE-2026-40627
- [mentions] VulDB: Totolink X2000R formWsc os command injection https://vuldb.com/vuln/423049

## From the sources

An os command injection vulnerability exists in the boa formWsc targetAPSsid functionality of Totolink X2000R TOTOLINK-X2000R-Gh-V1.0.0-B20250421.1327. A specially crafted HTTP request can lead to arbitrary code execution. An attacker can make an authenticated HTTP request to trigger this vulnerability.
