# HP Poly EagleEye Cube: unauthenticated users can change admin settings and export credentials

HP Poly EagleEye Cube USB devices running firmware 1.3.1-001267 do not enforce admin login on the device side, so a custom client can call admin APIs without logging in. An attacker can change administrator settings and export configuration files containing internal admin and network credentials.

_Summary, check and fix written by a model from the sources; labelled as such._

## Affected

- vendor:Poly EagleEye Cube USB affected 1.3.1-001267 fixed ?

## How to check

- Check the camera firmware version (Poly Lens or the host system's peripheral list) against 1.3.1-001267. If affected, treat admin and network credentials in any exported config as exposed and restrict network access to the admin interface.

## Timeline

- 2026-11-04T15:27:31+00:00 nvd https://nvd.nist.gov/vuln/detail/CVE-2026-39430
- 2026-11-04T15:32:07+00:00 analyst — No HP/Poly bulletin found (searched HP bulletins, OpenCVE; only NVD text). Fix unknown; 1.3.1 appears to be the latest published EagleEye Cube firmware (Poly VideoOS 4.1.1 release notes still bundle 1.3.1). Internet reachability of admin API not stated. Nothing verified. Settle by HP bulletin on support.hp.com.

## From the sources

On HP Poly EagleEye Cube USB 1.3.1-001267 devices, the administrator authentication flow is broken: session management and access controls are not enforced device-side. Thus, an unauthenticated user can change administrator-level settings (without logging in) via a modified client that bypasses the login step or via a custom client to make the underlying administrator API calls. This allows unauthenticated users to perform administrative actions too such as exporting configuration files that include the internal device credentials for the administrator user and other network systems.
