# im3x Scriptables: crafted upload filename lets attackers run OS commands

im3x Scriptables through the v2-dev branch fails to sanitize filenames on uploads to its /sync endpoint. An attacker who uploads a file with a crafted name can inject operating system commands that run on the server.

_Summary, check and fix written by a model from the sources; labelled as such._

## How to check

- Check whether the deployment runs im3x Scriptables from the v2-dev branch (`git branch` in the install directory, or the deployed package version)
- Check whether the /sync endpoint is reachable from untrusted networks

## Timeline

- 2026-11-03T17:21:57+00:00 nvd https://nvd.nist.gov/vuln/detail/CVE-2026-38595

## From the sources

An issue in im3x Scriptables through v2-dev branch allows attackers to inject arbitrary OS commands via uploading a file with a crafted filename to the /sync endpoint.
