# NAS Authentication Request decoding loops forever, causing denial of service

A missing lower bound check in the decoder for NAS Authentication Request messages (the cellular core signalling protocol) makes the procedure loop indefinitely. An attacker who can send such a message can stall the affected component and cause a denial of service.

_Summary, check and fix written by a model from the sources; labelled as such._

## Timeline

## From the sources

In the NAS Authentication Request message decoding procedure, a missing lower bound check causes an infinite loop, leading to Denial of Service.
