# TOTOLINK X2000R router: crafted request runs OS commands as admin

Totolink X2000R firmware B20250421.1327: the boa web server's formMapDelDevice handler passes the macstr POST parameter unsanitized into a system() call in /bin/map_del_device. An attacker with admin login can run arbitrary OS commands as root on the router. CVSS 9.1 (PR:H). No vendor fix published as of Oct 2026.

_Summary, check and fix written by a model from the sources; labelled as such._

## Affected

- vendor:X2000R affected TOTOLINK-X2000R-Gh-V1.0.0-B20250421.1327 fixed ?

## How to check

In the router admin UI, System/Status page, read the firmware version; TOTOLINK-X2000R-Gh-V1.0.0-B20250421.1327 is confirmed vulnerable. Also check if the admin UI answers from the internet (remote management / WAN port 80 or 8080 enabled) with an external port scan of your WAN IP.

## Fix

No fixed firmware known; Talos reports no vendor patch. Until one ships: turn off remote (WAN) web management, use a strong unique admin password, keep the admin UI on a trusted LAN only, and watch totolink.net X2000R download page for a newer build.

## Timeline

- 2026-10-23T21:57:21+00:00 nvd https://nvd.nist.gov/vuln/detail/CVE-2026-33568
- 2026-10-23T23:15:48+00:00 analyst — Read Talos TALOS-2026-2391 (primary, Oct 20 2026): authenticated OS command injection, macstr from formMapDelDevice goes via sprintf into system() in /bin/map_del_device. No vendor fix: Talos timeline shows vendor acknowledged 2026-06-25, no patch by 2026-09-15. No exploit or PoC public (VulDB, KEV false); WAN reachability of admin UI not stated by any source. Siblings: other X2000R boa CVEs (e.g. CVE-2026-41223 same handler, stack overflow). No social discussion searched.

## From the sources

A OS command injection vulnerability exists in the boa formMapDelDevice macstr functionality of X2000R (version(s): TOTOLINK-X2000R-Gh-V1.0.0-B20250421.1327). A specially crafted HTTP request can lead to arbitrary code execution. An attacker can make an authenticated HTTP request to trigger this vulnerability.
