# Esri ArcGIS Server: unauthenticated remote users can change service metadata

Esri ArcGIS Server versions 11.3 through 12.0 let a remote attacker with no account update service metadata. The sources do not say what an attacker can change beyond that metadata.

_Summary, check and fix written by a model from the sources; labelled as such._

## How to check

- Confirm the ArcGIS Server version in the Server Manager or installation directory; affected range is `11.3` to `12.0`
- unknown for any other check, the sources do not say

## Fix

- Apply the Esri patch for ArcGIS Server `12.0`, `11.5` or `11.3`, or upgrade to a patch-eligible release
- Versions outside those listed are mature or retired and not patch eligible, so upgrade them

## Timeline

- 2026-10-26T18:31:44+00:00 nvd https://nvd.nist.gov/vuln/detail/CVE-2026-33522

## From the sources

Esri ArcGIS Server versions 11.3 to 12.0 ONLY allows a remote, unauthenticated attacker to update service metadata. A patch is provided for ArcGIS Server software in General Availability and Extended support status, which includes versions 12.0, 11.5, and 11.3. Other versions are in mature or retired status, which are not patch eligible. Users working with unlisted versions are advised to upgrade and apply the patch.
