# Android: USB data enabled without authentication after strong auth change

A logic error in Android's UsbService.java lets USB data be enabled without user authentication. An attacker with physical access to a locked device could use this to gain higher privileges.

_Summary, check and fix written by a model from the sources; labelled as such._

## How to check

- Check the Android security patch level under Settings > About phone > Android security update, which the sources do not tie to a specific version.

## Timeline

- 2026-11-02T20:35:26+00:00 nvd https://nvd.nist.gov/vuln/detail/CVE-2026-28645

## From the sources

In onStrongAuthRequiredChanged of UsbService.java, there is a possible unauthenticated enabling of USB data due to a logic error in the code. This could lead to physical escalation of privilege with no additional execution privileges needed. User interaction is not needed for exploitation.
