# A improper neutralization of special elements used in an os command ('os command injection') vulnerability in…

Fortinet FortiSandbox, FortiSandbox Cloud and FortiSandbox PaaS have an OS command injection flaw reachable through crafted HTTP requests with no login needed. An unauthenticated attacker can run arbitrary operating system commands on the appliance, and CISA lists it as actively exploited.

_Summary, check and fix written by a model from the sources; labelled as such._

## Affected

- vendor:fortinet fortisandbox affected >= 4.2.0, <= 4.2.8 fixed ?
- vendor:fortinet fortisandbox affected >= 4.4.0, < 4.4.9 fixed 4.4.9
- vendor:fortinet fortisandbox affected >= 5.0.0, < 5.0.6 fixed 5.0.6
- vendor:fortinet fortisandbox cloud affected >= 5.0.4, < 5.0.6 fixed 5.0.6
- vendor:fortinet fortisandbox paas affected >= 5.0.4, < 5.0.6 fixed 5.0.6
- vendor:Fortinet FortiSandbox affected ? fixed ?

## Fix

Apply the mitigations and patch from Fortinet's advisory for CVE-2026-25089; the sources do not name the fixed version. Follow CISA BOD 26-04 guidance and discontinue use if no mitigation exists for cloud deployments.

## From the sources

Fortinet FortiSandbox, FortiSandbox Cloud, and FortiSandbox PaaS contain an OS command injection vulnerability that allows an unauthenticated attacker to execute unauthorized commands via specifically crafted HTTP requests.

CISA required action: Apply mitigations in accordance with vendor instructions, ensuring compliance with CISA’s BOD 26-04 Prioritizing Security Updates Based on Risk (see URL in Notes) guidance and CISA’s “Forensics Triage Requirements” (see URL in Notes). Follow applicable BOD 26-04 guidance for cloud services or discontinue use of the product if mitigations are unavailable. Stakeholders are responsible for evaluating each asset's internet exposure and ensuring adherence to BOD 26-04 patching guidelines.
